Tony Novosel

Dr. Tony Novosel (Dietrich School of Arts & Sciences) is a historian and educator at the University of Pittsburgh, renowned for his nearly three decades of dedication to international education, peace, and reconciliation, particularly in Northern Ireland. A Pitt alumnus with both undergraduate and Ph.D. degrees, Dr. Novosel's work has earned him numerous accolades, including the 2017 Chancellor's Distinguished Public Service Award and the 2024 honorary Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE). He is the author of Northern Ireland's Lost Opportunity: The Frustrated Promise of Political Loyalism (2013) and has served as an Academic Consultant and Counselor for Study USA (SUSA)/British Education Initiative of Northern Ireland. Dr. Novosel's commitment to his students and his contributions to peace and education have made a lasting impact.
