The University Center for International Studies (UCIS) is home to six area and thematic studies centers that offer multidisciplinary academic programs for undergraduate and graduate students, programs and funding for affiliated faculty, and initiatives and events for community organizations and K-12 educators and students. UCIS is also home to affiliated programs and associations, Pitt Global Experiences, the Office of International Services, and the Nationality Rooms and Intercultural Exchange Programs. "(NRC)" denotes that a center has been designated as a National Resource Center by the United States Department of Education.
The Center for African Studies promotes the study and research of Africa, providing students with opportunities to expand and widen their knowledge of Africa and foster a greater understanding of the diverse continent.
