Programs and Offices

The University Center for International Studies (UCIS) is home to six area and thematic studies centers that offer multidisciplinary academic programs for undergraduate and graduate students, programs and funding for affiliated faculty, and initiatives and events for community organizations and K-12 educators and students. "(NRC)" denotes that a center has been designated as a National Resource Center by the United States Department of Education.

UCIS centers work with various groups across the broader community to develop programming that enhances teaching and learning about the world and other languages beyond our campus. Together, we run programs such as high school Model EU and Model African Union simulations, festivals, educator study tours, reading groups, classroom visits, weekend mini-courses, and more.

UCIS is also home to affiliated programs and associations, Pitt Global Experiences, the Office of International Services, and the Nationality Rooms and Intercultural Exchange Programs. The Global Operations team supports members of the university community engaged in business around the world. The Global Partnerships & Engagement team works to facilitate formalized agreements and visits between the university and other institutions worldwide.

The Global Experiences Office develops programs and facilitates educational experiences in over 75 countries.

The Office of International Services provides immigration-related services for international visitors, students, faculty, researchers, and staff at the University of Pittsburgh.

Pitt’s renowned Nationality Rooms promote cross-cultural understanding and celebrate Pittsburgh’s ethnic diversity and immigrant heritage.

Pitt Global works to internationalize the Pitt campus and broaden the University’s connections worldwide.

Pitt Global facilitates the process of initiating academic agreements or hosting delegation visits, international business operations, remote work abroad, and international vendor services.

The Global Partnerships team strategically and systematically offers support to expand and develop partnership opportunities that help the University of Pittsburgh further establish itself as a leader in global education.
