Doreen joined as the Associate Director of the Center for Ethnic Studies Research, starting in the fall of 2024. Before joining UCIS, she made an impact at the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs (GSPIA), where she worked at the Johnson Institute for Responsible Leadership and the Frances Hesselbein Leadership Forum. Doreen managed daily operations, communications, and programming for the Institute, and she has a wealth of experience in student engagement and community outreach at the University of Pittsburgh. Additionally, Doreen served as an active member of GSPIA’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

Before her time at GSPIA, Doreen was with the Graduate School of Public Health and the Katz Graduate School of Business, where she coordinated immersive programs for international students and faculty at the International Business Center. She’s also the co-founder and co-chair of the Hispanic Latinx Professional Association (HLPA) Pitt Affinity Group, and actively participates and leads programs on the Latinx Hispanic Heritage Month Planning Committee at the University, helping to kick off the inaugural Latinx Connect conferences.

Doreen has a deep connection with the University Center for International Studies (UCIS). She worked at the Asian Studies Center (ASC) and earned a certificate in Latin American Studies (CLAS) when she graduated from the University of Pittsburgh. She’s thrilled to be part of the UCIS family!
