The University of Pittsburgh signed a cooperation agreement alongside the National Central Library (NCL) of Taiwan on Monday, June 24, 2024, as part of the Taiwan Resource Collaboration for Chinese Studies (TRCCS). The agreement allows the University Library System to access resources published in Taiwan and enables the opportunity for academic exchange between the two institutions.
“The establishment of TRCCS represents a pivotal hub for scholarly dialogue, networking, and knowledge exchange within the broader Pitt community, particularly among researchers and scholars with a keen interest in Chinese Studies,” said Runxiao Zhu, Head of the East Asian Library at the University of Pittsburgh.
In obtaining access to the NCL’s extensive catalog of digitized collections, the University of Pittsburgh’s University Library System will be able to expand upon an already profound array of works featuring East Asia, while enhancing the Library’s Chinese Studies materials.
“By providing access to resources in Taiwanese cultural heritage and Chinese studies, as well as opportunities for academic collaboration, including scholarly exchanges,” said Dr. Kornelia Tancheva, Hillman University Librarian and Director at the University Library System. “The TRCCS will benefit all researchers and students working or interested in those areas, but especially those in Chinese Studies and would further add to Pitt’s already significant East Asia holdings.”
